What is UX?

UX is more than graphic design: it’s a holistic and strategic suite of disciplines that considers all aspects of the final system or product, including user research, content strategy, copy development, information architecture, interaction design, interface design, and usability testing. The focus of UX is to ensure the user experience produces higher adoption rates, leads to greater market penetration, and results in positive brand perceptions.

Why UX Matters

If you’re building something others will use, you’re developing a user experience. Doesn’t it make sense to do so strategically rather than by happenstance?

You’ve probably been so frustrated by a service or product — maybe it was too complicated or didn’t meet your needs — that you switched to a competitor. You don’t want this to happen to your customers.

Further, if you don’t understand your users — their wants, needs, abilities, and habits — you’re far more likely to develop a user experience that they simply will not or cannot use.
